Here’s a list of this past weekend’s accomplishments:
3rd place in Founder’s Festival, OA Jeopardy, Toilet Bowl (Golf Ball) Chip, Corn hole, Ultimate Frisbee, and Website
2nd place in Tug-o-war, Youth Dodgeball, Horseshoes, Corn Hole, Adult Disc Golf, Adult Volleyball, and Adult Dodgeball
1st place in Spam Toss (like an egg toss), Newsletter, Youth Disc Golf, and Spades
I was awarded the Best Adult Trainer award
Mark Guyton found Mr. Axe
Peyton Peralto, Scott Hughes, Micah Huffman, and I were all awarded a certificate of appreciation for being trainers.
The icing on the cake was receiving the Most Spirited Lodge award. Scout Spirit was seeping out of the pores of these guys! They were always smiling, cheerful, shaking hands, and being helpful. I cannot tell you how proud and happy I am to be surrounded by such young men of character!
20 awards and four trainers… As far as I know, that’s a record for us!
Additionally, our own Peyton Peralto was appointed Section Secretary! Peyton will serve by appointment and will have the opportunity to make it official by vote this fall at our Section’s Council of Chief’s meeting.
There is much more work to be done. As you can see, there are no awards for ceremonies, and there are a lot of awards for publications that we could strive for. My philosophy is the youth should have fun. This is youth led. If you guys don’t want to compete in these things, fine. But I know we must have young men who would consider a scrapbook, publications, newsletters, and ceremonies fun. I know we must have young men who we can empower to take on these roles. And, I know they will be glowing with pride with their accomplishments next year.
I would like to personally thank all of those who attended this weekend! Man we had a blast!
I would also like to say that if you are not an active member of our lodge you are missing out on a true brotherhood that is growing, that is cheerful, that loves one another, and that would be happy to have you!
